Through its personnel policies the Board wishes to establish conditions that will attract and hold the highest qualified personnel for all positions who will devote themselves to the education and welfare of students.

The Board wishes to attract and retain personnel in the District who are motivated to do their best work. The Board does not wish to retain personnel who have to be motivated through external or administrative pressures to do a satisfactory job as determined by the District staff evaluation procedures.

The District Administrator is directed to recommend for Board approval personnel policy additions or changes and/or administrative directives necessary to achieve the above stated objectives.

The Board establishes this employment philosophy for all district employees.

  1. The Board shall establish policies and enter into contracts to govern all aspects of the operation of the District for the purpose of providing enrolled students with a quality education.
  2. The purpose of such policies and contracts is to provide guidelines for fair and equitable treatment of employees in the District’s pursuit of its educational obligations.
  3. All employees come under the direction of the District Administrator.
  4. Administration is encouraged to observe teacher applicants teach before making a recommendation for employment to the Board. District employees must arrive at their workplace, competent in mind and body, ready for the activities of the day.
  5. Existing policy and/or labor contract provides guidelines allowing an employee to be absent from work due to illness. Employees must provide as much advance notice as possible.
  6. When scheduling vacation leave, employees must seek approval for the specific timing of the vacation from the District Administrator or his/her designee. Extended vacations are not encouraged during the school year.
  7. All employees will treat each other (peers, supervisor, and subordinates) in a civil and courteous manner at all times.
  8. It is required that every employee intends to comply with the provisions of this and all other policies, contracts and agreements. If a rule or policy is wrong, out-of-date, or confusing, employees are encouraged to bring it to the attention of a supervisor so the Administration and Board may act upon the concern. An employee should anticipate disciplinary action when disregarding or electing to not comply with District Administrative Rules, Board Policies, or existing Contracts. Such disciplinary action may range from a simple admonition up to and including dismissal.
