A. Teacher Payment
Teachers, by default, will be paid within thirty (30) days of rendering service in twenty (20) equal payments with payments on the 5th and 20th of each month except the months of July and August when no payments will be made. The teacher may elect to be paid in twenty-four (24) equal payments, on the 5th and 20th of each month commencing September 5th of each year. If the 5th or 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be made on the immediately preceding workday. Employees may elect to have their checks directly deposited into the bank of their choice.
B. Wisconsin Retirement System
The employee will pay the required contribution rate equal to one-half of all actuarially required contributions, as determined by the Employee Trust Funds Board.
C. Workers’ Compensation
Workers’ compensation leave will be charged against sick leave in accordance with the provisions of Section 102.30(3) Wis. Stat. The Board shall have the right to have the teacher examined by a Board designated physician to help establish the length of time the teacher will need to be absent from school.
D. Insurance – Professional Staff
The District agrees to supply new hires with information describing the fringe benefits and any salary deduction option(s) available.
Coverage shall be continuous for teachers who are eligible.
a. Eligibility: full-time teacher(s)
All eligible teachers working seventy-five percent (75%) time are entitled to the group insurance benefits, unless specifically otherwise noted.
2. Effective Date
Coverage will commence on the teacher's first day of active duty. Current teachers changing insurance status (i.e., single to family, option to family, etc.) will be provided coverage beginning with the first month coverage is available under the insurance carrier's rules.
3. Resignation or Termination
If a teacher resigns or is terminated during the school year, the coverage for all insurance benefits shall cease at the end of the month that the resignation or termination becomes effective.
4. July, August, Benefit Contribution
For teachers who complete the term of their individual assignment, the District shall provide coverage for insurance benefits through the month of August following the date of completion of the individual assignment.
5. Premium Payments
The District’s share of teacher insurance costs shall be determined annually by the Board.
1. Health Plan
The District shall make available health care protection (hospital, surgical, and major medical insurance) single or family coverage. The District shall choose the carrier. The Board may choose to establish a “cash in lieu of insurance” amount.
2. Long Term Disability
The District will make available LTD protection. The District shall choose the carrier.
The District will make available dental protection, single and family coverage. The District shall choose the carrier.
4. Life Insurance
The District will make available group life insurance coverage. The District shall choose the carrier.
F. Cafeteria Plan
The District shall establish and provide at its expense a cafeteria plan within the meaning of Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “code”).
All teachers shall be eligible to establish, by salary reductions, a medical expense reimbursement account and/or a dependent care assistance account to pay eligible medical and dependent care expenses, whichever is applicable, consistent with the flexible spending arrangement rules of Code Section 125.
It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to pay the teacher portion of the employment taxes, which may be imposed upon any additional cash payments paid to the teacher under the cafeteria plan, including, by way of illustrations and not limitation, FICA taxes.
